Champion 103 Public File
Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator.
This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.
1. News Bulletin Schedule
Champion 103 broadcasts news bulletins on the half-hour between 0600 and 0900 and hourly between 0900 and 1900 on weekdays. These bulletins are bi-lingual (mixture of English & Welsh) at 0600, entirely Welsh at 0630, 0700, 0730, 0800, 0830, 0900, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700 and 1800 and the remainder are English language, with additional English language headlines at 1630 and 1730. At the weekend, bulletins are broadcast on Champion 103 between 8:00 and 1300, with bilingual bulletins at 0800 and 0900 and English language for the remainder. Additional English language national bulletins are broadcast from 2200 through until 0500 seven days a week. The bulletins contain a full mix of national and world stories, along with sport, weather and entertainment news.
2. Recent News stories covered on air
Champion 103 have recently given extensive coverage to the campaign for a Prison in North Wales, from interviews with local Councils and with members of the public to get their views on the idea. A member of the Public who had been in jail said that he supported the idea as his family had had to travel miles to see him.
Wendy Ellis from Blaenau Ffestiniog, also featured. Wendy was cleared of Murder and Manslaughter after stabbing her Partner to death at their home. The day after the incident we had a reporter in Blaenau Ffestiniog who gave us voicers from the housing estate where they lived.
Champion 103 recently covered the Dolgarrog Aluminium closure where several local people lost their work. Local Councillors and an Assembly Member spoke about the effects the closure was to have on the area.
A Welsh rock legend, Mike Peters has recently conquered Everest, and got into the Guinness Book of Records for performing the highest gig ever. Mike provided an via Satellite after he broke the record.

There are no automated shows within weekdays or weekend daytimes
6. The amount of local programming per day produced by the station
All of Champion 103's weekday daytime output is produced and presented from our local studios(0600-1900). Peak time weekend (0600-1000 and 1200 to 2000 Saturday, 0600-1600 and 2000-2200 Sunday) output is produced and presented from our local studios.
Off peak programming (Music Control, Late Night Love, Music on Demand, Party Anthems, The Jeremy Kyle Show, hit40uk, overnights) is produced at various studios including sister stations in North Wales or those owned and operated by Champion 103's parent company GCap Media plc.

Champion 103 have launched a new music-based football fanzine show called Y Sgôr, hosted by Nicky John. This features live scores – local and national, a fan of the week slot and features for female listeners who don’t like football, but like the fashion of the footballer’s wives.
10. Recent programme and/or news highlights
Champion 103 is now runnig its annual Big Egg appeal, collecting easter eggs for local disadvantaged children.
All eggs received are distributed to social services, children's wards and hospices.
